ABOUT YOUR WEDDING VIDEOGRAPhER

Tony Hassall // Wedding Videographer

Your wedding day acts as a milestone in your relationship. It’s the joining of two families to celebrate the love and commitment you have for each other. My objective is to be a fly on the wall, so you and your guests can relax and enjoy the atmosphere as if I were not there. A master in the art of noticing, whether this be your grandparents laughing like children, guests connecting with one another or being patient to get the perfect shot.

I only use one camera throughout the day (with back ups on hand if needed) so that I’m not walking around with a huge camera rig, making people feel like they need to act a certain way or that they should shy away. A second camera is used for the speeches to create a more intricate film, however, I stay as discreet as possible so each moment is genuine when you play it back.

I won’t be directing people, or intruding in your guests’ personal space, this isn’t my style and doesn’t reflect your day the way it should be remembered - as it was. It’s important to me that I get to know you as a couple before your wedding day so I can really tell your story when it comes to editing and producing the final wedding film.

Why wedding videography

I could lie here and state that I always had camera in my hand and filmmaking has always been a true passion of mine. Whilst this is partly true within recent years, it’s not the authentic truth. My mother had some old recordings of her cousins christening that she wanted digitalised. When we all sat down to watch the footage, there was a moment where my mother’s father came onto the screen, the first time she would have seen and heard his voice for over 30 years. It was seeing the emotion in her face that struck a chord within me. My why is not only to produce a timeless film that utilises composition, light and editing techniques, but to hand over a film that will ignite the same emotions my mother felt on that day.

Before Wedding Videography

My creative career didn’t start with videography, it started out in the music industry after studying popular music performance at Chester University. From here I embarked on a career in the wedding industry playing in various ensembles and as a solo musician. I found myself getting emotional involved in my couples, often wiping away tears during personal vows or heartfelt toasts. It was a very fulfilling career and one I will always be grateful I started with. Being able to spread joy through music is something i’ll always cherish.

Personal Life

My downtime involves being in nature and finding new places to explore in the UK. It started in North Wales and has since taken me to Scotland seeking mountain views and lakeside walks. My favourite place has to be the Isle of Skye which is just unbelievable breathtaking. I have a wonderful partner who supports me and a rescue cat called Caliban, who, like any cat, likes to sleep. Thank you for taking the time to read my ethos, my why and just to get to know me a little more. I’ve written this in a way that is authentic as I feel that’s also how I want my films to feel, a true representation with nothing added or taken away to fit a trend.
